Tangible Fashion Pop-Up Exhibition Lange Voor Haute Couture The Hague

Fashion exhibition Lange Voorhout: Lange Voor Haute Couture. The open-air exhibition Lange Voor Haute Couture will also take place on the Lange Voorhout in The Hague in 2024. A fashion exhibition with couture by Michelangelo Winklaar, who lives in The Hague, presented in glass containers. With this free-to-attend exhibition, the Dutch Fashion Embassy Foundation shows the passion, workmanship and craftsmanship behind the creation of a garment. This special clothing is also known as couture. Couture is custom-made clothing made by hand, often unique, striking in shape and using special craft techniques. In this case, also partly made from sustainable and recycled materials, an important point to draw attention to.

Michelangelo Winklaar
Following the premiere of Lange Voor Haute Couture in 2023, where several Dutch fashion designers showcased a creation, this year's show features the work of one contemporary designer: Michelangelo Winklaar.
Winklaar's work is characterised as unique yet timeless clothing for the elegant woman in the spotlight. He focuses on the individual who has a penchant for pure materials, structure, nuances, form and an eye for detail for their own individuality.

Looking with your hands
One of the showcases on the Voorhout will feature touchable couture, for which Winklaar is partly known. This form of tactile art was inspired by his visually impaired mother. He creates handmade designs that you can touch while presenting them, which is unusual in the museum fashion world. His garments are specially designed so that visually impaired people can enjoy the shapes, fabrics and textures through touch. In doing so, he strives for a more inclusive fashion experience.
His first solo exhibition, “Looking with your hands”, featuring inclusive fashion creations and artisanal handiwork, took place in 2021 at museum Escher in het Paleis.
